We have confirmed that a Sartell High School product has given UND its 5th known verbal commitment in the 2011 class with OL/DL prospect Brandon Anderson committing earlier this week. The 6-6 295 lb Anderson visited UND last weekend and liked what he saw so he committed early this week to Coach Mussman and staff. He was a 2-way disruptive force for Sartell Head Coach John Ross. Coach Ross called Anderson “an athletic OL/DL who has very good feet”.  He started on the defensive line for Sartell in his sophomore season and then started both ways as a junior and senior. Anderson played varsity basketball for Sartell as a sophomore and junior but hurt his knee in the 7th football game this past fall so he decided to forgo his senior year of hoops and concentrate on rehabbing his knee for football. Also, Coach Ross pointed out he does well in the classroom and is a great representative of Sartell High School. Sounds like the Sioux are getting a heck of a kid.
From the St Cloud Times:
“Brandon Anderson Sr. DL, Sartell
6-5, 285 … Mammoth three-year starter at defensive tackle and also a starter at offensive tackle … Career stats include 70 tackles, six sacks, three caused fumbles and three blocked kicks … Great blocker and dominating game-plan changer on the defensive line, head coach John Ross says … Division I recruit who is receiving interest from North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota State and Wisconsin.”
While he has dominated in high school on the defensive side of the ball, he projects better at the FCS level as an offensive tackle for O-line coach Rod Carey.
EDIT:Â Anderson just named to 2010 Minnesota AP All-State 2nd team on defensive line.
