Jared Tuilagi – Liberty High School (Henderson, NV)

The UND Football program has received a commitment from LB Jared Tuilagi (#4) of Henderson, NV.  Tuilagi, 6’2″-220, was a standout LB/TE for Coach Rich Muraco’s Patriots, which finished the season 11-2.   They lost in the state semifinals to powerhouse Bishop Gorman.

Tuilagi was an all-conference performer for the Patriots in his senior season and led his team in solo tackles and total tackles.  He also scored 4 TDs on offense from his TE position. He has pretty good speed on film and is definitely a play-maker on the defensive side of the ball.  With his aggressive style we can see him being an outside linebacker in UND’s 3-4 scheme.  Tuilagi also had offers from San Diego and Texas Southern.

Tuilagi is the 1st verbal commitment from the state of Nevada that we can ever recall joining the UND Football roster, and the 18th known scholarship commitment for the 2012 recruiting class that has a wealth of linebacker depth – a “must have” in the 3-4 defense.

The list of recruits in general is impressive, but it shouldn’t be overlooked how good of a group of PWO’s UND has put together. I think some of these guys could really contribute down the road.

    1. Great point. One kid who could really become a factor at inside linebacker along with Larson is Jake Watson. Kid is a tough player with very good size for that position. He could be a steal.

Lets not forget Brian Labat from DL who committed earlier. Watson is a similar body type to him. Labat is going to be a nice linebacker for the Sioux in a couple years.

Not wanting to steal the attention away from what looks to be a great recruiting class for UND. But, I was curious about UND’s status with Fox College Sports. Schlossman stated in his blog that the contract with them is up after next season and that it doesn’t look likes it’s going to be renewed. Are they referring to hockey games only or the whole sports contract? It’s been nice to have games from several sports televised nationally on FCS…I would hate to see that come to an end. Do you guys have any info on this?
