The UND Football program has signed defensive lineman Devon Hall of La Mirada, CA. Hall, 6’4″-245lbs, played for Coach Mike Moschetti’s Matadores, which finished the 2011 season with a 8-5 record. Hall also plays basketball for the Matadores.
Hall has only played football for one season and it is evident on tape that he is still learning the game. What can’t be denied is his size and physicality that he shows on film. He also showed pretty good speed for a big man, running down RB’s, etc. Once he learns techniques and a consistent system he should loosen up and be able to be a nice defensive end in UND’s 3-4 scheme. Anyone who watches the highlights can see he is raw due to his inexperience. However, that is what makes him such an intriguing prospect.
Coach Mussman’s signing day thoughts on Hall, courtesy of undsports.com: “Devon will be a good addition to our program. He is talented and has a really good upside for a kid who has not been playing football as long as a lot of the other players that we recruited. I was also really impressed by his demeanor when he came on the official visit. He is an impressive person and an impressive athlete.”
