The UND Football program is on the eve of the most anticipated Fall Camp in the program’s long history. UND joined the Big Sky Conference as of July 1st and will enter into their first full season of FCS playoff-eligible play.
The Freshman report tomorrow, July 31st, with practice actually beginning August 3rd. In between are the logistical issues the coaches/players need to get out of the way to begin practicing (equipment distribution, physicals, etc). The first game is set for Thursday, August 30th at 7 pm vs. South Dakota Mines.
The Joe Schobert saga finally came to an end last night. The Wisconsin Badgers came back on him and confirmed that they could get him admitted in time to join the football team this fall. It was an opportunity that was too good to pass up for the Wisconsin born and bred star. He was set to walk-on at UND and had scholarship offers in the past couple weeks from NDSU and Northern Illinois, but turned them both down. The chance to walk-on at Wisconsin was the one he could not turn down. We wish Joe the best of luck in Madison.
There is a nice preview of the Big Sky Conference at College Sporting News. A solid breakdown of each team and a predicted order of finish. UND is picked 5th. Just for the record, we believe Northern Colorado is picked way too low. They will surprise some teams this year.
