UND has a nice Fall Prospectus out on their website that does a nice job of summarizing the team as they head into fall camp. They do not have the two Juco safeties in their yet but as we stated earlier they will be expected to fight for a starting spot.
UND has received their first verbal commitment for the class of 2013 in Punter/Kicker Mitch Meindel (6’3″-190) of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, WI. Meindel is highly ranked according to Kohl’s Kicking Camps as he is ranked 36th in the nation as a kicker and 38th as a punter. Meindel did very well at the summer kicking camps and had impressive statistics in both kickoffs and punting. UND is going to be in need of both a punter and kicker in the next two years as Brett Cameron is a senior and Zeb Miller is a junior. Meindel could fill both of those roles if needed. Meindel also plays receiver for the Crusaders, which tells us alot about his athleticism. Highlights.
Montana starting QB Jordan Johnson has been officially charged in the rape case from last winter. That should take care of his status as a member of the Griz football team. Before these charges were finally announced he was still considered a member of the team. Montana is set to begin camp next week without much experience on their roster at the QB position. They are set to play UND on October 20th in what will be the most highly anticipated game in Alerus Center history.
