Final Recruiting Weekend (February 1st)

The UND Football program heads in to their last recruiting weekend with some nice momentum coming off two successful weekends that saw them snag 12 commitments.  To date, they currently have 15 confirmed commits with one (Jonathan Harris) unconfirmed, but likely.

There is a bunch of talent in this weekend’s group.  If all goes well and they get 4-5 of them to commit, it will put them right at the normal class amount (21-22).  Almost unthinkable back in the first week of January.

Once again, got to hand it to the new staff.  They have been working their tails off to get out and see kids and develop relationships.  From everything we are hearing, this staff is coming together nicely and is fostering a tight-knit, family-type atmosphere.  When there is a change in staff, that is a big building block to base off of.

Here are the confirmed visitors that we were able to find for this weekend:

Chauncey Bridges – CB – 5’11″ -175 – Farmington Hills, MI (North Farmington High School)

Marcell Kellum – WR – 6’2″ – 180 – LaGrange, IL (Lyons High School)

Jacob Holmen – LS – 6’2″ – 200 – Minot, ND

Levi Hoiby – DL – 6’4″ – 240 – Stanley, ND

Alec Stevens – OL – 6’4″ -270 – West Branch, MI (Ogemaw Heights High School)

Cedric Simmons – RB – 6’1″ – 215 – Mesa, AZ  (Mesa CC – Juco)

Jonathan Harris - NG – 6’3″ – 270 – Chicago, IL (Morgan Park High School)

Connor Bolduc – P – 6’4″-195 – Mahtomedi, MN

Hope there is at least one HS running back coming. Paging Brian Walker……or Anthony Anderson…..

Don’t think we will see Walker coming in unless it’s as a late walk-on, which he probably would not do. Anderson has grade issues apparently and would need to get those straightened out.

Was hoping for more OL prospects in this final weekend but maybe there are still a few that you haven’t heard about yet. Maybe the coaches have a plan to move some DL to OL? Also, I hope this coaching staff uses a TE in their offensive playbook. I think that is a position that has been underutilized but can be so effective.

If there’s any area of this recruiting class that’s weak, it’s the RB spot. Considering the new running game emphasis (which I absolutely love by the way), I was hoping we would end up with two solid RB commits. Any way that’s still possible?
